Welcome to the heart of Sceva’s Garden Home — a 1.5-acre hillside sanctuary where fruit trees, spices, flowers and memories grow side by side. Nestled in the peaceful hills of Adimaly near Munnar, this garden is more than a landscape; it is a living legacy shaped by three generations and nurtured with gratitude, patience and love.
What began in 1990 as a small agricultural plot tended by Benny’s parents, Mr. Varkey and Mrs. Thressiyakkutty, has blossomed into a vibrant botanical world. The family cultivated cocoa, pepper and a few spices with nothing but determination, traditional farming wisdom and deep respect for the soil. Over the decades, this land transformed into the lush green haven that guests now experience every day.
Through Sheeja’s passion for plants and Benny’s hands-on dedication — especially during the quiet months of the COVID-19 lockdown — the property grew into a garden filled with stories. Today, guests from around the world wander through the pathways, tasting fruits, learning about spices, spotting birds, and discovering how each plant reflects a chapter of the family’s life.
Woven across two generations, the garden at Sceva’s Garden Home is a testament to slow, mindful cultivation. Every corner offers something different — towering spice trees, exotic fruit varieties, flowering trails and medicinal herbs used for centuries in Kerala homes.
Our signature experience, the Sceva’s Garden Trail – Backyard Botanicals Tour, invites guests to explore this green universe at an unhurried pace. Each plant has a place and purpose, and each holds a story waiting to be shared.
Home to over 50+ varieties of fruit-bearing plants and trees, the garden celebrates abundance and diversity. Guests often get to taste fruits straight from the tree during the guided walk.
Passion fruit, mosambi, cherry, Ganapathi lemon, Makkota Deva, abiyu, cashew nut, arecanut, mango varieties, breadfruit, rambutan, durian, pulasan, mangosteen, papaya, jackfruit, mulberry, Malaysian bell apple, chambakka, star fruit, guava varieties, avocado, litchi, amla, egg fruit, peanut butter fruit, soursop, jamun, clove tree, multiple banana varieties, cocoa and coconut palms.
These plants not only feed the family but inspire many of the flavours guests taste in Sheeja’s kitchen.
Organically grown vegetables flourish throughout the year, offering vibrant colours and wholesome flavours.
Tomatoes, okra, beans, pumpkins, ash gourd, snake gourd, moringa, sky gourd, colocasia and seasonal varieties.
This is where Kerala’s culinary soul comes alive — with fragrant spices and medicinal herbs thriving under the hillside shade.
Black pepper, coffee shrubs, bay leaf, ginger, turmeric, white/black turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, clove beans, Panikoorka, Chumakkoorka, miracle fruit, irumban puli, touch-me-not plants, yams, colocasia and other native roots.
Many guests are surprised to learn how these everyday ingredients grow — and how they shape Kerala’s cuisine and home remedies.
Our garden is a haven for butterflies, bees and birdlife. From towering shade trees to tiny seasonal blooms, this is a landscape designed for life.
Spathodea, Anjili trees, ornamental flowers, native blooms and plant species that attract songbirds and pollinators.
